Dancing with Dandelions – Weathering-Steel Silhouette Sculpture
We have always been searching for a way that everyone to have one of our fairies in their garden. It’s not possible to mass produce our wire fairies for everyone, however I think what most people actually want is the silhouette! That is why our photos have always been popular, they give the illusion of fairies are the bottom of the garden. We have put a lot of time into creating these fairy silhouettes so now you can have fairies in your garden too.
We’d recommend choosing a spot where your fairy will be silhouetted again the clear sky or a solid colour background to really see them at their best.
Corten Steel or ‘Weathering Steel’ is used in high-end exterior architecture, for good reason. Exposed to the elements, within weeks it develops a orange patina that seals the steel and preserves it for decades. It also leaves a beautiful even colouring that will get darker over the years. Using secondary paint systems like powder coating quickly lead to failure. Paint doesn’t last well outdoors – it cracks, water gets in and rust leaks out. Self-sealing Corten Steel is the best way for a long lasting great result!
1-2 WEEKS – Orange Spots Will appear, Don’t Panic This Is Part Of The Process
8+ WEEKS – First Phase Of Its Protective Coat, An Even Orange
6 MONTHS – The Patina Stabilises To A Reddish Brown
2-5 YEARS – Becomes An Attractive Dark, Rich Purple/Brown
10+ YEARS – The Colour Deepens To Almost Black
